Shown is a counter top covered with 12'' granite tile. The backsplash rises in a stair step pattern to the cabinetry and is 3x6 Turkish travertine stone. Any look or style can be achieved with tile counter tops and/or backsplash. Tiling countertops is a nice option to increase the look and value of a kitchen or bath without incurring the cost of solid slab material such as granite or marble. Applications will vary depending on which tile is chosen. Generally, a cement board is laid over the cabinets and a mortar is applied to this board to adhere the tile. Next the tiles will receive grout.Sealing is recommened to avoid staining. |

Pictured here is a pre made top in a light travertine finish. This style has a bull nose and a back splash built into the top. These tops are sold at most of the major home stores and offered in a range of popular finishes. This is probably the most economical way of replacing and modernizing your kitchen countertops. I recommend this option for a quick kitchen update prior to listing the home for sale. This along with a new sink and faucet will make your kitchen look newer and hopefully bring in higher offers. |
